Many organizations and industries continue to struggle to build, grow, and sustain racial and ethnic diversity, despite hard work and significant investments of time and money.

According to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission 2015 tables on job patterns for minorities and women, in 2014, minorities comprised only 14% of senior leadership positions in the private sector. Of minorities, blacks made up 3%, Latinos 4.5%, and Asian Americans 5% of senior leadership positions.

A multi-year study by Deloitte and the Alliance for Board Diversity (ABD) shows the number of people of color who hold seats on the boards of directors at Fortune 500 companies has increased, but at a relatively slow rate with people of color holding 14% of seats.
