Millennials report higher levels of engagement in workplaces that foster inclusion. Millennials also embrace diversity of perspectives as a resource for solving problems and realizing new business opportunities through teamwork.

A 2015 joint report by Deloitte University and the Billie Jean King Leadership Initiative found that 83% of Millennials are actively engaged at work when they believe their workplace fosters an inclusive culture (but only 60% are actively engaged when they believe their workplace does not have an inclusive culture).

As highlighted in data on changing demographics, Millennials currently comprise the largest generation in the workforce and will make up about 75% of the workforce by 2025. And as the Brookings Institution describes, the diversity among Millennials is "ushering in the nation's broader racial diversity."

The findings in the Deloitte report reflect over 3700 responses to a survey that spanned seven sectors and included a mix of ages, genders, races/ethnicities, orientations, and levels of seniority. The report describes Millennials as the "teaming generation" and emphasizes how Millennials view diversity of perspectives as a resource for solving business problems and realizing new business opportunities through teamwork.

Importantly, the Deloitte report notes that while 86% of Millennials believe different perspectives help teams to thrive, only 59% believe the leaders in their workplaces share that point of view.
